Successful research and teaching lives from the competence of the entire staff and a fertile working environment with appropriate facilities.
In a variety of projects, we work in an interdisciplinary manner in our areas of expertise like gas sensors, exhaust gas aftertreatment, ceramic MEMS, biosensors, and materials for energy conversion.
Our team consists of engineers in the fields of materials science, environmental engineering, biotechnology, electrical engineering, scientists from the fields of chemistry or physics and technical and laboratory staff.
The Department of Functional Materials was established on July 1, 2001. Since then, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ralf Moos is head of the Department. In the years 2001 to 2003 an initial research and teaching infrastructure was built. Meanwhile, more than 25 paid staff plus graduate students and undergraduate student assistants are employed in the Department of Functional Materials.
Here you can check the milestones of the development of our department.
